MATHEMATICSThis month the students commenced their learning of Mathematics through a recall knowledge session. They were quizzed on Decimals. Students understood the concept of Decimal, its place value and comparison between Decimal Numbers through Place Value Chart. Students also practiced the following concepts:
The students revised the syllabus for UT2 using different tools like MS Forms, Quizzes and participated enthusiastically in the doubt clarification sessions. Practice sums and worksheets were given to strengthen their knowledge on Decimals. Student explored the Sep-Edu Book and the Kit with great excitement. Using the SEP Edu kit, they made Airplanes and Ninja Stars using origami Sheets and showcased their creative skills. SCIENCESolids, liquids and gases December was the month of a complete experiential learning. Students shared their previous knowledge on Mentimeter platform about solids, liquids and gases. They identified the various phenomena’s like Melting, Solidification, Evaporation etc. which were demonstrated by the educator through various experiments. They later understood that how the molecules expand or contract to changes their state through a brainstorming session and video demonstrations. Students prepared solutions with salt and water, milk and water, oil and water to understand about the various types of solutions and miscible, immiscible liquids. They also conducted experiment with baking soda and vinegar in order to experience that, in a chemical change new products like CO2 etc. are formed They were asked to crush and then tear a sheet of paper to understand that physical changes only show change in shape, size and form but not the chemical properties or form of a substance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVY5aKpy55s SOCIAL SCIENCECh.10-Pollution The chapter was carry forwarded from the last month. Different waste items were shown and students categorized them into non- biodegradable and biodegradable waste. The importance of segregation of waste was discussed, which was in complete sync with the SDGs. Concept of Blue and Green bin was explained. To enable the students understand the waste segregation, a video of Kamikatsu- village of Japan was shown. Ch. 16- Great World Leaders “A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others” To increase the awareness about the great world leaders, a Power Point Presentation was shown in a quiz format, where the students had to identify the leader with the help of the given cue. More information beyond the text book was also shared in a brainstorming session. Students shared their thoughts about their favorite world leader. Ch 1- Globes and Maps Concept initiation was done by using a globe. Students were asked to locate some countries on the globe. Need of the globe to represent the earth in the simplest way was explained by using white board. Students discussed the advantages and disadvantages of globes. By doing this, they grasped the usage of mathematical operators, variables and conditions. ENGLISHStudents of grade V learnt how to write a ‘Newspaper Report’ with the help of a graphic organizer. They understood about the various parts which are required to make a proper Newspaper Report. ‘Direct and Indirect Speech’ was explained to the children through video demonstrations and hand outs/notes. Answers were discussed in the class to bring out a better understanding of the topic. Chapter- ‘Phrases and Clauses’ was introduced with the help of a Power Point Presentation and video demonstration. Later on, textbook exercises were attempted by the students. Unit-2 ‘Swifter, Higher, Stronger’, taught the students about the three Olympians. They read about them in the class and came to know about them in detail. Children were given more information on Olympics through two videos shown in the class. Textbook exercises were discussed and done in the class at the end of the chapter. Weekend worksheet included Direct and Indirect Speech, Adverb and a Reading Comprehension. Individual Project, based on Olympics was discussed with the children in the class. HINDIगुंजन पुस्तक से पाठ - ‘ महादानी कर्ण ’ द्वारा कर्ण की दानवीरता और दानशीलता का परिचय दिया गया। विस्तृत जानकारी के लिए कर्ण पर आधारित वीडियो दिखाकर संक्षेप में महाभारत का ज्ञान कराया गया। पाठ का सारांश बताकर अभ्यास कार्य करने में छात्रों की मदद की गई । रचनात्मक कार्य- कर्ण के बारे में जानकारी एकत्रित करके चित्र सहित उत्तर-पुस्तिका में लिखने के लिए दिया गया। श्रुतलेख के माध्यम से छात्रों के शब्द कौशल का परीक्षण हुआ। व्याकरण संबोध की किताब से ‘ अविकारी या अव्यय ’ शब्द की पहचान कराते हुए परिभाषा बताई गई । मस्तिष्क मानचित्र की सहायता से क्रियाविशेषण, संबंधबोधक, समुच्चयबोधक एवं विस्मयादिबोधक की जानकारी विस्तार मे दी गई । उदाहरण की सहायता से विषय को भली-भांति समझकर अभ्यास कार्य करने में सक्षम हुए। रचनात्मक गतिविधि - कालवाचक ,रीतिवाचक , परिमाणवाचक , स्थानवाचक क्रियाविशेषण का कोलाज बनाते हुए वाक्य लिखने के लिए दिए गए। इकाई परीक्षा - 2 के लिए निश्चित पाठ्यक्रम की लिखित और मौखिक कक्षा परीक्षा लेकर छात्रों को पूर्णरूप से तैयार किया गया। छात्रों का प्रदर्शन सराहनीय रहा। मासिक विषय और सतत विकास के लक्ष्य-१३ जलवायु परिवहन से एकीकृत करते हुए शीत ऋतु के विषय में जानकारी दी गई और बदलते मौसम पर एक अनुच्छेद लेखन करवाया गया। इस तरह से शब्दकोश में वृद्धि के साथ-साथ लेखन कौशल का विकास हुआ। https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0R_ElrGIVw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkdu4xaueyU SPANISHThe learning journey of this month commenced with a video presentation on the topic- ‘Seasons and Weather’. The students learnt new words and expressions. A beautiful song was shared in the class along with the lyrics. As a reinforcement activity, the class enjoyed doing a ‘Picture Description’ assignment. The topic- ‘Festivals’ was introduced with a video on “El día de los Muertos” followed by a class discussion on one of the most famous Mexican festivals. With the help of a Power Point Presentation, the class learnt about other festivals celebrated across Spain and Latin America. Regular verbs conjugations were practiced in the class. The students merrily enjoyed listening and singing Spanish “Villancicos”(carols) and made beautiful and colourful Christmas & New Year cards. The children learnt various phrases related to weather conditions prevailing in different seasons of the year. They also got familiar with important festivals of Germany.
