In literature , children got introduced to the chapter ' Rainforests in danger' . They learnt about their importance and all the issues surrounding them. They wrote word-meaning in the notebook. Children were explained how to write ' Diary Entry'. They were explained the format and the same was practiced in the class. Revision test -1 was done in the class. The syllabus covered reading comprehension , Non-chronological report and Diary entry. Pronouns was introduced in few sections . ScienceMonth of August found the learners in researcher mode. The students found out about different adaptations like behavioural and structural to understand the concept better. They also delved into finding out more about camouflage, hibernation, aestivation. Students found out about different adaptations undertaken to breathe, body coverings and structure of teeth and jaw. These provided insight and greater concept of adaptation being an animals way of life to survive in a certain habitat. They made notes in the notebook. Students began to look into the Plant world through the chapter 'Growing Plants'. They learnt about the structure and different parts of a seed along with their typical functions. Germination and and activity on germination made them aware of the factors affecting germination. Students then delved in the fascinating world of various methods of seed dispersal. This also strengthened their understanding of the previously learned concept of adaptation in plants. Students observed vegetative propagation of potato in their classroom. They also became aware of ravi and kharif crops, and steps of agriculture. Understanding of step farming happened through stduents speaking about their own experiences of interacting with farmers of the mountains who follow this practice. They further learned about the life of the people, climate, vegetation, and wildlife in the prairies. Revision of chapters 7 and Chapter 8 was conducted through a written test. Students learnt to calculate the ‘Missing Numbers’ in Addition/Subtraction questions. To enhance their learning of Number Operations, students first of all revisited the Multiplication Tables and had a recapitulation practice of multiplying by 1- and 2-digit multiplier. They further learnt to multiply large numbers with 3-digit multipliers and practiced multiple such questions. Indian and Western DanceDance has health benefits from increasing stamina, relieving stress, and body sculpting to name a few. But it's also great for mental and emotional health. Dance brings people together and provides them with a sense of community with people that have the same interests and passion. In Indian dance students learnt Ganesh Vandana choreography in semi-classical style on 'deva shree ganesha' song.Through the dance they learnt various mudras like -- Pataak, ardh-chandra and expressed emotions through shringar ras and veer ras. "When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a centain place on the floor; it's to enjoy each step along the way." In Western dance the session began with a new dance style- Freestyle on a Krishna song embibing the spirit of love and devotion. We used freestyle body movements along with hand gestures and rhythmic foot movements to create a new choreography. They were also taught the basic levels of body like plie and releve. It is a good exercise for mind and body coordination, it also improves the body posture. Visual ArtStudents were made aware of the importance of festivals through a composition drawing based on Independence Day, Janmashtmi and Ganesh Chaturthi. Feastivals are an integral part of the diversified culture of India. Students were encouraged to enhance their drawing skills by covering the whole sheet of paper with drawing the main elements of the composition. Students were introduced to shading and merging in two colours with oil pastels as a medium. They were also taught the usage of black colour as a main element to enhance the contour lines and the final presentation of art work. Independence Day CelebrationsSuncity School 37D celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day with immense respect and strong patriotic feelings.
The Suncitizens extended a warm welcome to the Honourable Chief Guest, the Director General of Haryana Institute of Public Administration, Red. DGP Ranjiv Singh Dalal. Members of the Management at Suncity School 37D also graced the occasion. The flag hoisting ceremony set the tune for the rest of the program. The cultural program commenced with a wonderful rendition of the song Vande Mataram by the school choir. It was followed by a splendid dance performance. The students instilled the importance of self-defence and showcased their Judo skills which left the audience awestruck and inspired. This was followed by the glorification of India in the ancient language, Sanskrit. A grand and graceful fusion dance performance on the song 'Aye mere Watan ke logon' struck a strong emotional chord among the audience.The program culminated with the address and motivating words of the Chief Guest, which enthused and enlightened the students. The Principal in her address urged the students to instill discipline in themselves in order to be successful. Budding author Arshya Prinjal and artists Navya Shankar and Triman Kaur Mullay, all 7th graders, presented their respective works to the Chief Guest. Grade IX and X students, in their endeavour to honour and recognize the work and importance of the entire school support staff, initiated SEWA and served refreshments to them. They were also given a tricolor each to hoist in their houses in order to spread the message Har Ghar Tiranga.
