Chapter ' Phrases and Clauses' was introduced in which the children learnt the meaning of phrases and clauses and were able to differentiate between both. SCIENCE The students continued their journey of finding out the marvels of the physical sciences. The learning journey they began in the previous month to know about force, energy, work and simple machines concluded this month. The journey was marked with many Wow! and Aha! moments, a typical reaction when one finds reason and connection of the learned concept and real life. This was especially true for finding simple machines in everyday objects. Students prepared well for the unit test that was conducted. States of matter was another fascinating topic they learned this month. Apart from exploring and investigating the factors that make matter change from one state to another, students also touched upon the concept of sublimation discussing ample examples from real life . Students made solutions of various solute and solvent and concluded on the properties of a solution. The concepts of solute and solvent would be now permanently seated in their minds. Physical and chemical changes was touched upon this month and understanding the factors that qualify a change to be of physical or chemical in nature was also highlighted . Students are now adept in analysing a change to be of physical or chemical in nature. Enviromental awareness is an important part of our living. accept the differences that make people unique."
Students were introduced to the monthly theme “Tolerance”.
They understood that tolerance means respecting the opinions of
others even if they are different from our own opinions, valuing
everyone, avoiding stereotypes, living together peacefully.
Tolerant people show strength by dealing with different opinions
and perspectives, being patient, making friends and forgiving.
Everyone is different and we should respect individual
differences. Students learnt the concept in-depth by watching
videos and stories on the same.

MATHEMATICS
Students started their learning of Mathematics through a recall knowledge session. They were quizzed on Order of operations in numbers. They practiced the sums by showing step-by-step calculation using the BODMAS strategy. They attempted sums and related word problems to strengthen their understanding. This was culminated by the students attempting a class assessment on the topic.
As the next topic, ‘Fractions’ was introduced. Students shared various real-life examples –pizza, chocolates, sandwiches, cooking etc.
Students also practiced the following concepts:
Practice sums and worksheets were given to strengthen their knowledge on Fractions.
Students with great excitement explored the Sep-Edu Book and the Kit. Using the SEP Edu kit, they have understood shapes using patterns and showed their creativity at its best.

SCIENCE
Light and Shadow
Force and Energy
Students enjoyed their Science lessons with the hands-on tasks planned for the topics ‘Light and Shadow’ and ‘Force and Energy’. They learnt about the 3 types of materials which does / does not allow light to pass through understanding the terms – solid, transparent and opaque. They observed the passage of light through clear water, paper with an oil patch, and book to understand the concept behind it. Understanding Shadows and its properties was done with the help of a torch light and the shadow it casts at different angles.
The topic ‘Force and Energy’ commenced with the students experiencing how force enables them to do different things like changing shape of the play dough and by giving it a desired shape, by moving, stopping and changing the direction of a moving ball by applying force. They learnt about the different types of forces by conducting hands on activities.
Activity 1 – Frictional Force - To understand the frictional force they were asked to hold a 1liter bottle initially, later on held the same bottle after applying oil and hold the same bottle, which they were unable to do so.
Activity 2 – Buoyant Force - To understand the buoyant force, they saw that when an object was immersed in a glass full of water, the water which was displaced was equal to the amount of force applied by water.
Conducting both the experiments helped the students to share many real life examples that they have seen, which led to a class discussion further.

Students followed all the guidelines and procedures of the General assembly like showing the name card of the countries to ask a question, calling each other, “Delegate of…….”. They thoroughly enjoyed the session and understood the importance of United Nations.
Ch 13.Transmitting Knowledge
The topic was introduced using ‘Think and Share’ activity. Students were asked to decode a message
The collage of communication techniques was shown to understand the evolution of communication.
Students explored the ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphic script by writing their name in the script, they enjoyed writing their names and simultaneously understanding the importance and evolution of language. The invention of paper and printing was discussed. Students were asked to think about different ways of communication like smoke signals, drum beats, cave paintings, braille and using pigeons.
